The Trafford Local Care Organisation leadership team oversee the work of the organisation and is responsible for the long term development of community based care in the city. They have a wealth of experience of managing services in Trafford and beyond that they bring to TLCO. The team also provide these roles across Manchester Local Care Organisation as part of the joint leadership arrangements across both LCOs. The exception to this is the Director of Adult Social Services role which is linked to the local authority area of Trafford only. The leadership team are supported by a small but dedicated corporate team who lead on our various pieces of work.

Katy Calvin-Thomas
Chief ExecutiveKaty was appointed as Chief Executive in January 2021 and is responsible for the overall running of TLCO and MLCO. Previously she has worked in strategic, performance and transformational roles at MLCO, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership.
Mark Edwards
Chief Operating OfficerMark is responsible for day to day operations across the services TLCO and MLCO provide. Alongside ensuring continuity of services, his portfolio includes ensuring new models of care are implemented to transform and improve care.
Laura Foster
Director of FinanceLaura is responsible for supporting the LCOs to look after the resources given to it, ensuring that these are used to enable the best possible impact in improving the health and well-being of the people of Trafford.
Layla Alani
Director of Nursing and Professional LeadLayla is the professional lead for Nurses and AHPs within the MLCO and TLCO. She is responsible for the delivery of high quality and safe care ensuring patients and service users have the best possible experience whilst in our care. Layla joined us in April 2024 from Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where she has worked as the director of governance and deputy chief nurse. Layla is an experienced nurse leader and has worked across medical and surgical specialities within acute and community settings including neurology, neurosurgery, end of life care and trauma & orthopaedics. Layla is a Florence Nightingale scholar with a particular interest in health prevention, research and quality improvement.
Tim Griffiths
Director of Corporate ServicesTim is responsible for a range of functions across TLCO and MLCO including business information, risk management, communications, and corporate governance. Previously he has held senior positions in local government and in the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership.
Helen Ibbott
Director of StrategyHelen leads the overall strategic development of TLCO and MLCO with partners. She is responsible for developing our operating plans, our overall service transformation and improvement approach and embedding a change and programme management approach into our operations.
Sohail Munshi
Chief Medical OfficerSohail is a practicing GP in Manchester and has been for over 20 years. He is responsible for leading the clinical strategy of TLCO and MLCO, aiming to improve population health and wellbeing by turning the strategy into reality
Richard Spearing
Managing DirectorRichard works with colleagues to develop and oversee the delivery of the overall values, strategies, accountabilities and operational plan for TLCO. He is also responsible for the day to day running of adult community health services.
Nicola Marsden
Assistant Director for Children’s Community Health ServicesNicola is responsible for the operational and strategic management of Children’s Community Health Services across TLCO (and MLCO), working to achieve the vision for every child in Trafford to have the best health possible.
