We’re thrilled to celebrate the success of Ella Hornby, one of our Trafford School Nurses, who has created an incredible resource that’s gaining traction across the community – the Women’s Health Booklet: A useful and informative guide to women’s health, helping you to become empowered and confident in knowing your own body.
Originally designed for teenage girls, the booklet has not only been embraced by Trafford’s neighbourhoods but has now gone national, thanks to SAPHNA’s (School and Public Health Nurses Association) support. Ella was inspired by feedback from Trafford’s sixth-form students, who expressed a need for a resource focused on women’s health, particularly after leaving school. Through her passion and dedication, Ella developed a booklet that covers essential topics such as menstrual health, cervical screening, sexual health, and more, offering young people valuable insights to make informed choices about their health.
The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with students saying they’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s even been picked up by Public Health England, with plans to publish and translate the booklet for wider access. We can’t wait to see how this resource continues to grow and help more young people across the country.
Be sure to check out the Women’s Health Booklet – it’s a fantastic resource for anyone working with young people.
