GM Hate Crime Awareness Week 2025

This Hate Crime Awareness Week, we’re taking a stand against hate.

Hate crime can have a devastating effect on someone’s life; acts of violence or hostility directed at people because of who they are or who someone thinks they are, based on characteristics like disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, or belonging to an alternative sub-culture.

Greater Manchester is a place where we all look out for each other, stick up for one another and stand together. It’s a place where everyone is free to be themselves. Hate crime has no place here.

We all have a right to live without fear and intimidation from others because of who we are. If you’ve been the victim of a hate crime, or witnessed one, please join us in taking a stand against hate by reporting it.

How can I report a hate crime?

If you’ve experienced or witnessed a hate crime, help and support is available. If it’s an emergency, you should always call 999. But there are other ways to report a hate crime:

  • Call Greater Manchester Police on 101
  • Call Manchester City Council on 0161 234 4612 or report it online
  • Report it to True Vision
  • Visit a third party reporting centre. Third party reporting centres offer anonymous advice and support, and are not connected to the police. Find a centre near you.
