Discover a World of Dementia Support on Your Doorstep

Did you know there is a whole network of dementia-friendly clubs, community groups and support services right here in Trafford?
From social groups and singing sessions to specialist advice, carer support and wellbeing activities, there is far more happening locally than many people realise, all designed to help people live well with dementia and feel part of a supportive community.
On Tuesday 31st May, from 10am to 2pm, the Salvation Army in Sale will host a Living Well with Dementia community event, a relaxed and welcoming space where you can explore everything available locally in one place. Funding for the event has been secured through the Shared Lives Scheme, via Trafford Carers Centre.
Whether you are living with dementia, supporting someone who is, or simply want to understand more about brain health and future planning, this is an opportunity to discover clubs, meet friendly faces, and find practical support that could make everyday life that little bit easier.
Organised in partnership with local care-at-home company Home Instead, the NHS Primary Care Networks for Sale and Altrincham, Age UK Salford & Trafford, Public Health England, Alzheimer’s Society Trafford, Trafford Carers Centre, Greater Manchester Mental Health, Trafford Local Care Organisation and many other local organisations, the event brings together the people and services who are working every day to ensure no one feels alone.
A dementia journey can sometimes feel overwhelming, but across Trafford there are organisations offering connection, reassurance, and real, practical help. This event simply opens the door to that wider world of support.
On the day you’ll find:
  • A Marketplace of Support with local charities, community groups, healthcare services and organisations
  • Expert talks from professionals working directly with people affected by dementia
  • Entertainment including singing, drum therapy and even a dementia disco, celebrating the power of music, joy and connection
This free event is open to individuals, families, carers and professionals across Trafford. Come along, have a chat, pick up information, and discover the many ways our community is helping people live well with dementia.
