At the Trafford Local Care Organisation (TLCO) 0–19 Children’s Services, we believe that the best way to improve healthcare is to listen to the people who use it. This Patient Experience Week, we are proud to showcase how the voices of children, young people, and families across Trafford are actively shaping the future of our Health Visiting and School Nursing services.
Listening to Every Voice
We don’t just collect feedback; we act on it. Our service is proactive in gathering insights to ensure our care is inclusive and effective.
-
Learning through Video: We use patient feedback videos to help our staff reflect on their work. These stories allow us to see the real-world impact of our services and identify exactly where we can improve.
-
A Focus on SEND: We recently engaged deeply with a family supported by our TEDS (Trafford Early Developmental Support) and Health Visiting service. Their story was shared with colleagues across Family Hubs and CCHS services to ensure our approach to SEND remains family-centred and inclusive.
Improving Public Health for Young People
Our School Health teams have been busy adapting how they deliver public health sessions. By listening to what young people actually find “relevant and engaging,” we have updated our delivery methods. This work was recently presented at the Trafford Neighbourhood Network meeting to highlight the power of the youth voice in community health.
Staff Excellence: Going Above and Beyond
Patient experience is driven by the dedicated individuals in our teams. This week, we celebrated:
-
Jane Broadbent (Health Visitor): Awarded a certificate for her exceptional commitment to gaining family feedback and helping her colleagues navigate important patient conversations.
-
The South HV Team: Following “First Foods” sessions, the team reviewed Friends and Family Test (FFT) data. The glowing feedback has led to a newly updated presentation that will be rolled out across all of Trafford to enhance the weaning journey for new parents.
-
Healthy Schools Team: Recognised for their tireless work in gathering feedback from students and school staff to refine our public health impact.
-
Infant Feeding Team: Boasting high positive FFT rates, this team was recently featured on BBC Breakfast, discussing how timely, feedback-driven support makes a life-changing difference for new families.
“We value the opportunity to shine a light on the positive work across the service and ensure that every child and parent in Trafford feels heard.”
